Dear Members, Associates and Trainees

The South African Institute of Chartered Accountants (SAICA), has applied to the Independent Electoral Commission of South Africa (IEC) for accreditation to provide election observers during the 2019 National Elections. SAICA invites you to serve as an observer during the 2019 National Elections.

Why should you observe?

SAICA recognises that ensuring free and fair elections for all, promotes respect for the Constitution of the Republic of South Africa and is key to positive nation building. SAICA members, associates and trainees in good standing are encouraged to take part in this important nation building initiative as this is an opportunity to use our skills and knowledge in the public interest. Observers play a pivotal role in ensuring that the democratic process of elections is adhered to.

How to apply to be an observer

In order to be considered as an election observer please email for the application form link and complete it by Wednesday, 20 February 2019. Kindly note that all applications will be subject to a vetting process and late applications will not be considered.

Compulsory Observer training

All members, associates and trainees who qualify to be election observers must attend compulsory one-day SAICA Observer Training sessions, the dates of which are in the Registration form mentioned above. Failure to attend the compulsory training disqualifies the member from participating as an observer.

Members, associates and trainees are encouraged to support SAICA in this endeavour to demonstrate our commitment to free and fair elections and to proactively participate in an initiative to re-establish trust in the chartered accountancy profession.
