Notice of SAICA Special General Meeting 31 July 2018

Notice is hereby given that the Special General Meeting (SGM) of members of the South African Institute of Chartered Accountants (SAICA) will be held at the SAICA Offices, 17 Fricker Road, Illovo, Johannesburg, Gauteng, on Tuesday, 31 July 2018 at 09h00.

Members are required to utilise SAICA's electronic platform for both the proxy and on-the-day voting processes.  Virtual member participation through a webcast is also available.

Registration and proxy voting

The e-voting solution will open at 09h00 on Tuesday, 10 July 2018 and close at 09h00 on Sunday, 29 July 2018. No proxy voting will be allowed during the 48 (forty-eight) hours preceding the SGM.

On-the-day voting

Will be available on the e-voting solution at the commencement of SGM proceedings at 09h00 on Tuesday, 31 July 2018, both for those physically present and those connecting remotely. The electronic voting system will close at the conclusion of the voting process. A valid password will be required to participate in the electronic voting process on the day. If members did not register during the proxy voting process, members will receive an sms with a One Time Password (OTP) when they log in. Members will need to use this OTP in conjunction with their SAICA ID to access the electronic platform.

Attendance and access control

Only bona fide SAICA members in good standing are eligible to attend a SAICA SGM, participate in the proceedings and vote at a SAICA SGM. Access to the SGM will be allowed only to members who present one of the following valid means of identification, namely:

  • South African Identification card or book; or
  • Passport; or
  • Driver's licence; or
  • SAICA Membership card

On presentation of one of these identification documents, members will be asked to sign the attendance register.

Electronic equipment required and available for use

Members are requested to bring along their own laptop, smart phone and / or tablet to facilitate access to the electronic voting system and process on the day. A limited number of laptop voting stations will be available for members to use, if a personal electronic device is not available on the day.By Order of the Board
