SAICA members in public practice and in other businesses are subject to a vast array of legislative requirements and other good governance considerations. While Governance issues, such as The King Code on Corporate Governance are dealt with elsewhere on this website, these pages focus on the some of the more pervasive parts of legislation affecting our members in their business lives.
SAICA seeks to influence the legislative and regulatory environment by commenting actively on draft bills issued by Parliament. SAICA also seeks to maintain and enhance practicing members’ competency in these areas by offering a variety of seminars, workshops and other events.
SAICA’s primary focus in the past has been on the overarching sphere of Corporate Law. This encompasses the Companies Act, 2008 and the Close Corporations Act, 1984.
SAICA provides the legislation that we believe is applicable to our members.
SAICA will also be providing more information to our members on other legislation that will be effecting our members as accountants/auditors as well as owners and managers of businesses.
