Matsobane Matlwa, CA(SA) CEO, SAICA
Matsobane Matlwa comes to SAICA from the South African Revenue Service (SARS), where he was Group Executive of the Large Business Centre. Prior to joining SARS in September 2004, he was General Manager (Group Finance) at ABSA, having previously been an audit partner at Ernst & Young. He holds the following qualifications: Hons B Compt, CTA, MBA, M Com (Taxation) and a CA(SA). He has served on a wide range of SARS committees, having chaired the Large Business Centre (LBC) senior managers committee and the LBC employment equity forum. He has also served as chairman of the Transmed investment committee and of the Autonet finance and administration restructuring committee. He was also a member of the Transnet restructuring team, of the Transnet treasury committee, of the SAA Corporation financial working group and of the SITA board of directors. In addition he has also served as a senior controller at the Financial Services Board and as an accountant at Anglo American's coal division. |

Azim Omar, CA(SA)
Manager in the office of the CEO
Azim Omar completed his traineeship for and qualification as a CA(SA) at Ernst & Young before venturing into commerce and industry for a number of years. He has significant experience in financial and business consulting as well as financial and business management. Before joining SAICA he started and managed his own business consulting practice. Azim has been active in a number of roles at SAICA. In his current role he is responsible for overseeing the business risk, the projects office as well as the governance functions of SAICA.

Graham Terry, CA(SA)
Senior Executive: Strategy and Thought Leadership
Graham Terry joined SAICA in 1986 as a Technical Director and his responsibility was to build SAICA's technical function. Since then he has held various positions. In 1993 he was appointed Operations Director, in 1996 the Deputy Chief Executive and in 2000, Vice President. He currently heads the strategy and thought leadership division, where he is responsible for 'thought leadership issues', research and development, stakeholder relations, and overseeing corporate governance, legal and ethics. His current area of focus is sustainability and sustainability reporting and is the author of Green: Why corporate leaders need to embrace sustainability to ensure profitability (SAICA, 2009). Terry has served on various professional committees and boards, both local and international, and in various capacities. He is currently the Chairman of XBRL South

Nazeer Wadee, CA(SA)
Chief Operating Officer
Nazeer Wadee has over 10 years experience in strategy formulation, business and financial management, consulting and project management within various service- oriented environments. Before joining SAICA, Wadee was the Managing Director of the Management Consulting Business at arivia.kom, an ICT services organisation, and prior to that he was the Group Financial Manager. In his current role at SAICA, Wadee oversees the strategic operations of several of SAICA's divisions.

Ewald Müller, CA(SA)
Senior Executive: Standards
Ewald Müller's portfolio is to ensure that SAICA plays a leading role in shaping the regulatory environment and governance framework for the accountancy profession by managing key stakeholder relationships, and ensuring high quality technical contributions into external processes, technical communication and services to SAICA members. Müller is also currently a media anchor at Summit TV's Afrikaans business programme, Sake Met Summit. Prior to joining SAICA, Müller was an Investor Relations Advisor and radio presenter of RSG's business programme, Geldsake met Moneyweb. For most his career, Müller has worked in commerce and industry in various positions, most notably as a Senior Analyst in Bank Supervision at the South African Reserve Bank, a Senior Analyst for Banks and Financial Services at Fleming Martin, a GM at FutureBank and an Investor Relations Officer at Nedcor. He has lectured at the University of Pretoria and GIBS and presented at numerous seminars, conferences and workshops.

Sue Ludolph, CA(SA)
Project Director: Accounting
Sue Ludolph CA(SA) is responsible for the technical accounting content communicated to SAICA members, the public and the press. As part of her portfolio she also provides a secretarial function to the Accounting Practices Board (APB) and the Accounting Practice Committee (APC), manages the GAAP Monitoring Panel (GMP) and co-ordinates all SAICA's submissions. Prior to joining SAICA, she was the National Recruitment Partner for Deloitte, where she started her career as the National Education Manager and was later employed by Educor Limited as Dean of the Commerce Faculty at the Midrand Campus.

Muneer Hassan, CA(SA)
Project Director: Tax
Muneer Hassan began his tenure at SAICA in November 2007. His portfolio includes advising SAICA members on tax issues affecting the accountancy profession, keeping them abreast of tax developments and managing relationships with key stakeholders in the industry. Prior to joining SAICA, Hassan was an audit manager and tax technical advisor at the South African Revenue Services (SARS). Hassan holds certificates in Capital Gains Tax as well as Advanced Taxation.

Mandy Olivier, CA(SA)
Senior Executive: Professional Development
Mandi Olivier who has been with SAICA since 2005 has overall responsibility for Education within the Professional Development Unit. Her responsibilities include providing strategy and input for the Professional Development Unit, overseeing the setting and administration of the Qualifying Exams (Part 1 and Part II) and defining the competency framework for CAs(SA) at entry into the profession. Before joining SAICA, Olivier was an Associate Director: Assurance Learning at Deloitte, where she was responsible for education and training. Previously she worked as an Audit Manager in the firm. Olivier is currently a board member of Fasset's Management Board and Audit Committee.

Adri Kleinhans
Project Director: Training
Adri Kleinhans is responsible for the training programme for prospective CAs(SA) in the Professional Development Unit. She has been with SAICA for 19 years and before 2006, her responsibilities included the education programme for prospective CAs(SA). Before joining in SAICA, Kleinhans worked briefly as a recruitment consultant with a leading recruitment agency and before that was an educator at a secondary school.

Chantyl Mulder, CA(SA)
Senior Executive: Professional Development, Transformation and Growth
Chantyl Mulder trained for her CA(SA) at KPMG before joining the Public Accountants and Auditors' Board in 1985 as the Education Officer, a position she held for five years before being promoted to Director: Education and Training. She joined SAICA in1999 to head the Transformation and Growth division, where she developed a comprehensive transformation plan and strategy that evolved into the Thuthuka Education Upliftment Project, which seeks to transform the profession through education and corporate social responsibility projects. Mulder is also the facilitator of the Chartered Accountancy Profession BEE Charter.

Tonia Jackson, CA(SA)
Project Director: Transformation and Growth
Tonia Jackson CA(SA) started her career in KPMG's insurance division. After completing her articles in 2002, she worked as an audit manager at KPMG until early 2005, when she joined SAICA as Project Director: Financial Services. In this role, she was responsible for accounting, auditing and regulatory projects and the management of key stakeholder relationships within the various financial services industries in South Africa. In July 2008, Jackson moved to the Transformation and Growth division as a Project Director, where she will be involved in various projects aimed at transforming the profession.

Natalie Zimmelman
Programme Development Manager – AAT(SA)
Natalie Zimmelman has been with SAICA since 2004 as Project Director: Transformation and Growth. In July 2008, she began her tenure as Programme Development Manager of AAT(SA). Part of her responsibility will be to drive AAT(SA), which is a joint venture between SAICA and AAT(UK). Zimmelman has extensive experience in the education sector, having previously worked at Fasset as the Policies and Projects Manager and at the University of the Witwatersrand's Administration Department and Students Employment Programme as an Administrative Officer and Placement Officer, respectively. Zimmelman holds an MBA, with distinction from the University of Pretoria and a Higher Diploma in Corporate Law from the University of Johannesburg.

Ntatho Selebi
Project Director: Thuthuka Bursary Fund
Nthato Selebi is responsible for managing the Thuthuka Bursary Fund. Among his core areas of responsibility are the Thuthuka Bursary Fund budgets, interaction with universities and the Thuthuka Bursary Fund sponsors. Selebi also coordinates the placement of students for vacation work and community service, and manages the day-to-day operations. Selebi joined SAICA in 2000 as Project Manager: Transformation before stepping into his current role. He has vast experience as an educator at schools in South Africa and the USA. He holds a BA Sociology Honours from RAU and is currently reading towards a LLB through UNISA.

Melanie Naidoo (B Proc, LLB)
Head: Legal and Governance
An admitted attorney, Melanie joined SAICA in December 2005. Utilising her experience gained in the corporate governance and compliance fields, her current portfolio includes serving as SAICA's in-house legal counsel and company secretary. She is also involved in SAICA's corporate law reform initiatives and provides technical advice on corporate governance and corporate law matters. Prior to joining SAICA, Melanie was the Enterprise-wide Corporate Governance and Compliance Officer at Nedbank and served as Company Secretary at RandWater. She also holds diplomas in advanced banking, corporate law, compliance and corporate governance.

Willi Coates
Senior Executive: Marketing and Communications
Willi Coates has over 30 years experience in marketing, sales and communications in the financial services industry, including more than 20 years in the chartered accountancy profession. He holds a B Com, B Com Honours and M Comm (Economics) from The University of the Free State. Before joining SAICA, Coates was the Sales and Marketing Director at Ernst & Young and subsequent to that the Senior Executive for Marketing at First National Bank. Coates' current role at SAICA includes publishing SAICA's Accountancy SA and XL (Excel) magazines, maintaining the CA(SA) brand and promoting the image of SAICA among its various stakeholders.

Yusuf Dukander CA (SA)
Project Director: Financial Services
Yusuf Dukander CA (SA) is responsible for industry specific accounting, auditing and regulatory projects, including commenting on relevant legislation and standards communicated to SAICA members, the public and the media. As part of his portfolio, he also provides a secretarial function in the management of project groups for the banking, exchange control, investment management, long-term insurance, medical schemes, retirement funds and short-term insurance industries. Prior to joining SAICA, he was an External Audit Manager at KPMG Inc, where he started his career as a Chartered Accountant.

Juanita Steenekamp, CA(SA)
Project Director: Governance and Non-IFRS Reporting
Juanita Steenekamp is responsible for Governance and Non-IFRS Reporting advice and services to members. Part of Juanita's portfolio includes dealing with various legislation, most notably the Companies and Close Corporations Acts, in terms of which she provides guidance and information, and coordinates submissions to the DTI and other state entities. She is also involved in the Working Group that is preparing the Framework for Non-Public Entities, which will focus on providing an accounting and reporting framework for entities without any legal requirements to apply any other framework. As part of her portfolio she also provides a secretarial function to the Legal Compliance Committee, the Ad-hoc Committee on Corporate Law, and XBRL South Africa's Board and Steering committee. Prior to joining SAICA Juanita worked for Eskom, where, after completing her TOPP articles, she was employed as a financial advisor in the financial reporting department.

Mohammed Ebrahim Lorgat, CA(SA)
Project Director: Public Sector and Africa
Mohammed Ebrahim Lorgat CA(SA) is responsible for the Public Sector-specific technical accounting and auditing content communicated to SAICA members, the public and the press. As part of his portfolio he also provides a secretarial function to the National Public Sector Committee and co-ordinates all SAICA's submissions on Public Sector accounting & auditing. He also represents SAICA on the Eastern, Central & Southern African Federation of Accountants (ECSAFA) in a technical capacity. Prior to joining SAICA, he was a Senior Manager Audit for the Auditor-General South Africa.

Theashen Ashley Vandiar, CA(SA)
Project Director: Auditing and Members' Advice
Theashen Ashley Vandiar CA(SA) is an audit specialist responsible for all technical audit-related matters affecting SAICA members as well as the public. As part of his responsibilities, he liaises closely with the Independent Regulatory Board for Auditors and the DTI in order to influence legislation affecting the audit profession. He acts as the SAICA members' representative in discussions with other professional bodies. His other responsibilities include the management of SAICA's query system and the provision of ad hoc audit lectures for 3rd year and Honours students at certain Universities. Prior to joining SAICA, Ashley was a KPMG audit manager.

Leigh Roberts, CA(SA)
Project Director: Sustainability
Leigh Roberts joined SAICA in early 2009, reflecting her interest in the environment and responsible business. The move came as a departure from many years of financial journalism. In television, she has worked as a business anchor for eNews (and still does the evening news), CNBC Africa, SABC3 and Summit TV. She presented and produced the award-winning MoneyTalk programme on Summit TV for five years. In print media, she has written for numerous publications, including the Financial Mail, Business Times and Personal Finance. She was the founding editor of Business Times Money in the Sunday Times. She has won numerous awards for journalism. Roberts studied at the University of Natal and completed her articles with Ernst & Young.

Div Lamprecht, CA(SA)
Regional Executive: Central Region
Div Lamprecht's role as Regional Executive is to ensure the implementation of SAICA's broad strategy on a regional level. The office's primary role is to look after interests of the members based in the Free State, North-West and Northern Cape. The office also acts as a conduit between the regional structures and all SAICA head office divisions, thus providing valuable information to the entire organisation. Prior to joining SAICA, Div worked for ABSA Consultants & Actuaries as financial manager, with a specific focus on the administration of pension funds and liaising with fund managers and fund actuaries.

Nasiegh Hamdulay, CA(SA)
Regional Executive: Southern Region
Nasiegh, a South African chartered accountant, studied at the University of Cape Town and trained with Ernst & Young. He left Ernst & Young as a Senior Audit Manager to join Old Mutual Asset Managers as Credit Analyst, before joining SAICA in 2007. He is currently the Regional Executive for SAICA's Southern Region and his key responsibilities are to develop and ensure alignment of the Regional strategy to the SAICA broad strategy. Nasiegh's role also involves the facilitation and identification of member needs, culminating in the provision of timely and relevant information, products, and services to members. In addition to serving on eight regional SAICA Committees, including the regional Council, he also represents SAICA on various external committees including the Nelson Mandela Metropolitan University (NMMU) Academic Advisory Committee, the KPMG Audit Committee Forum and the University of the Western Cape (UWC) Advisory Committee.

Naeem Asvat, CA(SA)
Regional Executive: Eastern Region
Naeem Asvat joined SAICA in 2007 as the Regional Executive for SAICA Eastern Region and is based in Durban. Prior to joining SAICA, he held the position as Senior Manager in the Accounting Advisory Services division at KPMG after spending almost 10 years with KPMG. Naeem's experience has been extensive and includes external and internal audit, forensic investigations, tax compliance and tax consulting as well as various other consulting assignments. He was assigned to KPMG's Manchester office on a short term assignment in the external audit division which included conversions from UK GAAP to US GAAP. He has also undertaken International Financial Reporting Standards conversions in South Africa and Namibia. Previously, Naeem has also been appointed as a curator of a business which was seized by the Asset Forfeiture Unit (Scorpions) and appointed as a CFO for an associate of a listed cellular company. Naeem is currently responsible for all of SAICA's activities in the Eastern Region which is comprised primarily of KwaZulu-Natal.
