It costs around R67,000 to fund a Thuthuka student at postgraduate level and we fund a minimum of 150 bursaries each year. 	Ncebakazi Dodo, a BCom(Acc) student at Wits, has wanted to be an accountant since first being introduced to debits and credits in Grade Eight. She longed to go to university to pursue her dream, but she knew her parents would be unable to afford the fees. In 2006, while in Grade 12, she joined Thuthuka, attending summer, winter and Saturday classes. In 2009, 89% of the Thuthuka students passed Part I of the Qualifying Examination – far exceeding all targets and expectations. ‘When I got the bursary from Thuthuka I felt privileged because I knew that I was a step closer to who I wanted to be. Thuthuka has not only helped me, but my parents as well, because they don’t have to spend a cent towards my education and all I need to do is to make sure that I pass so that I don’t lose this great privilege. My life has changed for the better. Now my greatest desire is to complete my studies and return to my community and make a difference in someone else’s life. I want other young kids to know that all things are possible!’
