Thuthuka UK

SAICA realises that effective transformation will only be achieved through programmes that form part of a clear and driven strategy that addresses all levels of education and training applicable to the process of becoming a chartered accountant. The Thuthuka Education Upliftment Fund and Thuthuka Bursary Fund were created to be the vehicles through which the consolidated strategy is driven. The name "Thuthuka" (a Zulu verb meaning "to develop") was chosen.

The principal activities of Thuthuka are to establish and maintain structures for carrying out and promoting skills development activities. This will contribute to changing the membership demographics of the Chartered Accountancy Profession and SAICA with the ultimate aim that the membership of the profession will reflect the country's population demographics.

In addition, the Thuthuka initiative is responsible for establishing and maintaining structures for carrying out corporate social responsibility projects as envisaged by broad based black economic empowerment.
