Eastern Region District Associations
District Associations have been established as a part of the Eastern Region of the South African Institute of Chartered Accountants in terms of the provisions of the Institute's Constitution and By-laws. These districts associations primarily focus on issues that specifically affect members residing in that particular district.
The Northern District Association (NDA)
The Association's objective is to serve the interests of members in the Northern District and surrounds. The Northern District Association – incorporating Newcastle, Ladysmith, Dundee, Vryheid and surrounding areas. Alistair James, the Association's Chairman, represents members in the District. Such representation serves as a means of communication between SAICA and the District Association.
To achieve its objective, the committee promotes:
- liaison between members and SAICA,
- liaison between members and other key stakeholders, among them SARS, and
- provision of member networking activities, as well as relevant seminars and workshops.
The committee is predominantly made up of members from small and medium firms.
The Southern District Association (SDA)
The Association provides input into and aligns itself with SAICA's national mission and vision. Particular emphasis is placed on the following key objectives:
- liaison between members and SAICA and SAICA and the members,
- liaison between members and other key stakeholders, among them SARS, and
- provision of member networking activities, as well as relevant seminars and workshops.
The ultimate objective of the committee is to deliver relevant, value-added services to all SAICA members in the Southern District. The Southern District Association incorporates Port Shepstone, Port Edward, Margate, Umzinto, Harding, Kokstad and surrounding areas. The committee is predominantly made up of members from small and medium firms.
Midlands District Association (MDA)
The Association serves the interests of members resident in Pietermaritzburg and surrounding area. The Midlands District Association incorporates Pietermaritzburg, Howick, Mooi River and surrounding areas. Johan Riekert, the Association's Chairman represents the district with Andrew Fuller serving as Vice Chairman.
The committee has the following key objectives:
- liaising between members and SAICA and SAICA and the members,
- liaising between the members and the other key stakeholders – for example, SARS, the University of Kwa Zulu-Natal and Master of the High Court, and
- providing member networking activities as well as relevant seminars and workshops.
The committee is predominantly made up of members from small and medium firms.
Zululand District Association (ZDA)
The Association provides input into and aligns itself with SAICA's national mission and vision. Hans De Wet, the Association's Chairman represents the district. The Zululand District Association incorporates Richards Bay, Empangeni, Eshowe, Ulundi, Melmoth and surrounding areas.
Particular emphasis is placed on the following key objectives:
- liaison between members and SAICA and SAICA and the members,
- liaison between members and other key stakeholders, among them SARS, and
- provision of member networking activities, as well as relevant seminars and workshops.
The ultimate objective of the committee is to deliver relevant, value-added services to all SAICA members in the Zululand district. The committee is predominantly made up of members from small and medium firms.
Members are encouraged to participate in activities arranged by the committee and to advise the committee of any additional functions that would attract increased member participation.
