The Central Region (CR), has been established in terms of the Institute's Constitution and By-Laws, by members of the Institute resident in the Free State, Northern Cape and North West Provinces. More than 800 members and associates fall under the jurisdiction of the Central region council, which presides over matters in terms of its constitution and By-laws.
The regional office in Bloemfontein is ideally located to support Council and its committees. In addition it is well geared to arrange Seminars, Events and other networking functions and to respond to member queries on a local level.
What is our role?
SAICA's Central Region exists to provide a service to all SAICA members and associates in the Free State, North West and Northern Cape Provinces. In addition, it represents SAICA's national operations at a regional level. The Central Region currently provides services to approximately 800 CAs(SA).
Services offered by the Central Region office include the organising of networking events for members and associates. In 2008, 1300 delegates have attended our seminars, workshops, events and information sessions. Seminars and workshops presented during the year ranges from accounting, tax and management accounting through to exciting new seminars on business-related issues.
The Central Region office plays an active role in representing its diverse membership base at various levels with key stakeholders. This is done via the devoted members who serve on the active committee structures (Members in Business, Small and Medium Practice, Tax) that represent the various constituencies within the membership base. These committee structures ensure that we can actively communicate with the members and in doing so represent them at various levels of the industry.
One of the other key focus areas of the Central Region office is the maintenance and enhancement of the CA(SA) designation through media coverage and promotion of the designation in business and public practice. The office also has dedicated personnel who can assist with member and trainee queries, as well as career and bursary opportunities.
